The UNIFY 2000 Database System brings maximum reliability and performance to departmental OLTP applications. Based on the ANSI SQL2 standard, UNIFY 2000 combines a UNIX database server with database access and network connectivity tools, providing developers with a fast and powerful database management system for large, on-line applications.

Because immediate availability of shared information is crucial to OLTP applications, the UNIFY 2000 MultiPath database kernel allows simultaneous access to shared data structures for optimum performance scaling.

FlexTx transaction management offers a flexible means of managing database transactions through row level locking and multiple transaction isolation levels. Together with other features such as lock inheritance, demotion, and automatic lock escalation, FlexTx allows UNIFY 2000 to deliver maximum concurrency and throughput.

UNIFY 2000 uses five different data access methods to ensure the fastest possible performance in data-base access. Its unique Pathfinder architecture evaluates each query and determines which access method will execute fastest - dynamic hashing, links, direct keys, B-trees or sequential.
